Echeveria
‘Magic Red’

It may not be tall, but this lovely Echeveria sure is dark & handsome! Rare in the trade, this hardy succulent forms a 6” high by 12” wide rosette comprised of thick spoon-shaped leaves. Bright red in summer & deepening to a burgundy red as fall gives way to winter, the shiny leaves provide a splash of bold color to any bed. Arching stems of stiff, urn-shaped orange flowers attractive to hummingbirds appear in spring. Although this selection is drought tolerant, when planted in fast-draining soil it benefits from a weekly soak. A great way to add instant impact to a dry garden bed & it's perfect as a potted plant, where it can be placed for maximum visual appeal. Echeverias are one of the easiest succulents to grow & are long lived. A versatile selection, this beauty can handle full sun but also some shade. Some cleanup of lower leaves may be needed in winter. Protect plants from a hard freeze. Deer resistant.
