Digiplexis 'Illumination Raspberry Improved' This stunning deepest pink cross between a foxglove and the Canary Island’s Isoplexis, is now a much hardier plant, tolerating heat and sun much better and returning more vigorous each year! Yes each year, because unlike its foxglove parent, it is a perennial! Yay! The true raspberry-pink foxglove blooms with sweet peachy throats cover graceful and erect 12-15” spikes and blooms Spring thru Fall!! Attracts hummingbirds and bees like crazy, is deer resistant and adds the charm and beauty of old fashioned cottage garden stalwarts, yet keeps the show going way longer. Great for cut flowers and can be grown in a large container (20” minimum). Grows to 24”x30” on a mounding rosette of lance shaped semi-evergreen leaves. Requires well-draining loamy soil, so do please add high quality non-woody compost and water regularly. Cut spent bloom spikes for repeat show and cut to the ground when all flowering is over in late fall. Marti B., Gardener at Large |
