Agave chrysantha
"Golden Flowered Century Plant"

Growing to 3' tall by 5' wide, this North American Agave forms a gorgeous grey-green rosette with light & lovely horizontal striation. Keep the extra spiny leaves away from paths & plan for plenty of head-room in anticipation of the 20' flower spike of pure, vibrant yellow blooms that will eventually emerge. It will die after flowering, but goes out with a bang as masses of bees, hummingbirds & butterflies flock to sip on the sweet nectar. After the show is over it will reseed strongly so get ready for free babies. Grows best in full sun with little to no summer water, this outrageously low-maintenance plant grows nicely in well-draining soil, but does equally well planted in little more than a crack in a rock.
