Cuphea oreophila Blooms practically year-round. Thanks to our dear Strybing Arboretum in SF, we can offer this EASY and very rare, shrubby species bearing hordes of 2” vivid red tubular blooms complete with mouse ears and laden with nectar for the hummingbirds. Blooms appear from top to bottom against dense green foliage in both sun (coast) and bright shade. Multi-branching to 4’ x 4’, I usually prune mine in Winter for prettiest, freshest foliage and to maintain a shorter stature. Composty rich soil is best. |
