If you love Salvia wagneriana (& who doesn't - it's gorgeous!) but don't have a huge garden, this is the plant for you! Dramatic wine red calyxes produce showy deep red flowers that bloom profusely over a long season from as early as late Spring through frost. Sometimes described as Salvia splendens 'Van Houttei', this selection is closely related (but quite superior) to the common, stubby Salvias sold as bedding plants. Can attain 4' (its ultimate height & spread) within the first year if provided with loamy, rich soil & regular water in part shade. Below 30 degrees F you'll have to protect this plant from frost. Originally from Brazil.
