Ceanothus x pallidus
Such a useful shrub and yet, it’s hardly known! An East Coast - West Coast hybrid; it’s easy going, cold hardy, tough and adaptable to both clay soil and poor soil. How nice that it blooms repeatedly from Summer thru Fall with a profusion of fluffy, scented, light pink, 3” flower clusters on showy, wine red stems that remain interesting - even when it goes deciduous in Winter. With a nice, bushy habit, it’s great in a mixed bed, dry bed or filler in a rose garden. It can reach 5’ x 5’ but you can cut it back hard in Winter for a shorter silhouette. Butterflies! Deer resistant!
