Sparaxis elegans

Much admired in our Spring demo gardens, few plants fly out of the nursery as fast as this stunning, tough and EASY S. African bulb! And each year, it spreads out a little to bear more and more of these sexy, 2", violet-centered, bright orange blooms with their cool, central dotted-line ring. To 12" x 24", the dense, strappy foliar mound goes to sleep in Summer but returns reliably every Spring. Found growing in CLAY in its native habit with NO SUMMER WATER, it's a resilient character, but most rewarding in rich well-drained soil. Easily divided to share with friends!
