Penstemon eatonii
“Firecracker Penstemon”

Few plants make such a show as a well-grown specimen of “Firecracker Penstemon.” Native to the Southwest and into California, Penstemon eatonii grows 2 to 3 ft. tall x 1’ wide and bears, in late Spring brilliant red, tubular flowers loved by hummingbirds. The leaves are large and leathery. Good drainage is a necessity as well as fairly dry conditions in Summer. Hardy to 18 degrees F.
