Saturday, February 27 at 11 a.m. We consider ourselves to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to many kinds of plants, but when it comes to fruit trees - especially ones well suited to the Bay Area and its microclimates - our friend Idell is our go-to expert for advice and guidance. As a member of the Golden Gate chapter of the Rare Fruit Growers Association, her 3/4 acre property in El Sobrante is packed with an unbelievable array of fruit trees, unusual edibles and native plants. It is also a thriving habitat for local wildlife - insects, frogs, lizards, birds and more! |

Idell will share her treasure trove of knowledge on deciduous and evergreen fruit trees, as well as what specific varieties will grow and produce well in our Bay Area climate. She will also present some information on growing taste-test winning fruit in your home garden! Our propagator Anni Jensen calls her one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people she knows. So watch out! Her enthusiasm for all things edible may inspire you to diversify your home garden! Bring your questions, too! |
