Sesbania formosa
“White Dragon Tree”

We may be pushing the climate-zone envelope here, but hey - zone denial is part of the Bay Area’s adventurous gardening experience. “White Dragon Tree” is native to Northern Australia where the temperature rarely drops below 30 degrees. I don’t believe it will get that tall here, probably forming a shrub or short tree. It’s very fast growing, with pretty, corky bark, graceful pinnate (pea-like) foliage and bears beautiful, large, creamy white, sickle shaped flowers, usually in pairs. The leaves & flowers are edible; the leaves are steamed, boiled or sauteed as a vegetable in many places, including India & Indonesia. Try it in a greenhouse, or protect in Winter.
