Muhlenbergia lindheimeri
“Big Muhly”

The beautiful flower spikes & soft aqua-blue foliage of this Texas native grass make for an excellent specimen for the perennial or grass garden. The 1/4” leaves form an upright 2’ x 2’ clump, which is semi-deciduous in our Mediterranean climate & goes dormant in colder climates. The flowers are borne in simple upright spikes that rise to 2’ above the foliage. Emerging as purplish from September to December, they mature to silver, remaining showy. “Big Muhly” is very heat, clay & drought tolerant, though it is more beautiful in regularly watered, fertile soil. Good cut flower material! Non-invasive. Coastal tolerant.
