Echium simplex

Echium simplex Echium simplex

A plant to lust for! I don’t think this rare Echium from the Canary Islands has ever been offered in the trade before. Sean O’Hara of the Mediterranean Plant Society raved about it and asked me if I could find it. It looks like it makes a wondrous solitary 6’ spike that tapers to a point and bears pure white Echium-type flowers. The foliage rosette is low and silvery. Temperature wise: it will grow in Sunset Zones 16-17 for sure. Will re-seed and it’s said to hybridize with other Echiums. Hmmm... Poorish soil OK.
