"Davis Milkweed"
A beautiful native milkweed found around Davis. It grows 2-4' tall in poor, dry soil or any garden soil, and the same milkweed sap that will keep the deer from eating your plants is very attractive to the Monarch butterflies. They will lay their eggs on the stems and the leaves, and soon you will know why people get so excited by Monarch butterfly larvae. The flowers are white and pink and come up in large, attractive umbels at the top of the stems. Vigorous and easy to grow! Annie
