A Summer blooming, fast growing, extremely tough deciduous specimen tree native to China. With a nice rounded form, 30’ tall x 30’ spread, it bears 1’ long, showy sprays of many golden yellow, FRAGRANT flowers followed by fascinating inflated, lantern-like, bronzy-pink fruits. The large, pinnate leaves emerge hot pink in the Spring before turning a rich green. In Summer, the fallen blossoms form a romantic golden carpet beneath the tree. “Golden Rain Tree” does best in rich soil with water, but is EXTREMELY ADAPTABLE to poor, compacted soil, drought, pollution & urban stress, and so is very desirable as a street tree. Rarely bothered by pests, too. Does not self sow in our wet Winter conditions.
