Echinacea ‘Ruby Star’
photo: Justin Duray
I was never that excited about Echinacea purpurea or “Purple Coneflower” in the garden. Its color was a bit too washed out for me, though I loved the gorgeous central “cone”. Now some smart person has grown a million of them from seed to find one that really displays an intense carmine color. Yay! Not only that, but this one holds its petals in a more showy horizontal arrangement. Double yay! To 40” tall, it blooms June-Sept. & of course makes a great cut flower. Big with butterflies too!
