'Bordeaux Hybrid'

'Bordeaux' is a breakthrough in spinach coloration. Most varieties are shades of green, the main difference being whether the leaves are buckled or not. 'Bordeaux' is very different having deep burgundy red ribs & veins contrasting with dark green foliage. Quite an eye-catcher in the garden! Although the leaves can certainly be used steamed or sauteed, this variety is probably better used as a colorful addition to salads. Especially since its flavor is sweeter than that of other spinach varieties. Plant 6” inches apart in a well fertilized bed & keep watered. Harvest by picking off leaves as needed.
