Tulbaghia acutiloba

I love this plant, though it's subtle appeal may be lost on those of you who appreciate its common cousin - “Society Garlic.” It's a plant for detail-loving collectors – not parking strips! Small, recurved, pumpkin colored flowers with a light green (& sometimes slightly lavender) “skirt” are borne in clusters to 1 foot over thin, grass-like leaves in summer. Best grown in a pot, where you can admire the dainty flowers & enjoy their fragrance at close range. From rocky, dry areas of South Africa's Eastern Cape, this species requires light water in Summer & may be Winter deciduous.
