| Aeonium davidbramwellii
‘Fuencaliente Form’
photo:© B. Malkmus-Hussein
From the Island of La Palma comes this only recently named species in honor of David Bramwell, former head of the island’s botanical garden. A gorgeous succulent with rosettes up to 12” across, its leaves spatulate shaped & attractively blue-ish & beautifully blushed in rose. Variable in form, it may send up a single stalk topped with the rosette or become a multi-branched 3’ x 3’ plant with numerous rosettes held on thick succulent stalks. Borne in Summer, the flowerheads are rather dome shaped bearing starry white or pinkish blooms held on pinkish stems. Monocarpic, it will die after flowering (probably in its second year) but makes lots of seed & if happy will self sow. Native to rocky slopes - so do provide good drainage. Choice in rock gardens & containers. Annie |
