Gilia nevinii
“Nevin’s Gilia”

Gilia nevinii “Nevin’s Gilia”

Dainty & profuse blue-purple stars arise from delicate & ferny foliage, & bloom over a longer period than many Spring blooming California native wildflowers. We actually had a plant from late Spring last year bloom through Summer & survive the Winter, although it isn’t the usual. Graceful & with very good color, this charming wildflower would look cute-as-pie interplanted with Leptosiphon androsaceus ‘French Hybrids’. Named after Reverend Joseph Cook Nevin (1835-1913), one of the first botanical collectors to collect on Catalina Island. This species grows 1.5’ high by 1’ wide, & likes full sun, and is native to Southern California. Plants will keep going when Summer strikes if you keep them watered! Reseeds, of course! Provide rich soil for best show, but it’s not mandatory.
