Lachenalia viridiflora

Lachenalia viridiflora

It’s easy to understand why some people believe this to be one of the most beautiful of all the Cape Bulbs, & it certainly wins the prize for most unusual flower color – it’s TURQUOISE! Lachenalia viridiflora is a rare & exquisite jewel from South Africa, found in the wild in only one remote location, but is fortunately easy to grow! Hoorah! The large, showy, tubular flowers arrive in Spring, & are early for the Lachenalias. Bloom spikes reach a height of 4”. Some plants have striped & spotted leaves & some don’t, but they’re all to-die-for in that surreal & gorgeous kind of way! Plant in areas that don’t receive summer water, or in pots so you can diminish water in the summer, when the bulbs are dormant.
