| Claytonia sibirica
“Candyflower”
“Western Spring Beauty”
Dense shade solved! At my house I use this cute & cool native perennial cousin of “Miner’s Lettuce” behind my Roses in the space beneath a tall light-blocking fence that’s also shaded by a large Magnolia tree & it thrives there! Forming a lovely carpet of fresh shiny green heart-shaped leaves, it’s topped in Spring with a frothy multitude of sweet-as-can-be little “Candy flowers” that last well into Summer with moisture. Happy to increase its carpet effect but won’t venture into full sun. In dry gardens it’ll disappear sometime in Summer but new seedlings pop up every Spring. Composty soil is best. To 1’ x 1’.
