Aeonium palmense

Aeonium palmense

My wonderful designer pal David Feix sure knows how to use the flat green rosettes of Aeonium palmense - he uses them as a groundcover! Easy & adaptable in both sun and shade, the dense shiny rosettes grow 14-16" across & much larger in shade. After a year or two, they'll form branching stems to 2' tall with the rosettes sitting on top (all the while forming new rosettes at the base). If you want it to remain as a flat groundcover, just cut elongating stems back to the base. If allowed to grow to full size, you'll get a chartreuse pyramidal inflorescence. Blooming stalk will die but lower rosettes will carry on! Excellent in containers. Drought tolerant!
