Delosperma congesta

Tough as nails and cute as pie, Delosperma congesta bursts into a profusion of bright and clear yellow blooms in mid summer. The satiny, many petalled flowers are 1-1/2” across and are offset with a white eye. Blooming begins around May, peaks in the middle of summer and continues sporadically till late summer. The evergreen succulent foliage (to 1” tall and 30” across) makes a dense ground covering mat, perfect for trailing over the edge of a rock garden or container. Though fairly drought tolerant, this South African native succulent looks best with some summer water and a bit of feeding every so often.
