| Dodecatheon jeffreyi
“Jeffrey’s Shooting Star”
One of our most charming & graceful Spring blooming native wildflowers, “Shooting Stars” can be easily grown in rich well-drained soil of a rock garden or in a container for close-up enjoyment. Native to both dry & wet areas of the West Coast (from Alaska to the Southern Sierra Nevada), “Jeffrey’s Shooting Star” grows to about 18” tall & features unusually large leaves for the genus. The beautiful cyclamen-like, violet-lavender flowers appear in umbels atop upright stems with the petals reflexed back from the pointed dark purple stamens. The number of blooming stems will increase with each Spring. Goes dormant in late Spring when it doesn’t need any summer watering. Annie |
