Argylia canescens
(syn: Argylia radiata)

Argylia canescens Argylia radiata

One of my favorite collectors plants, this rarity from Chile blooms from June-August bearing lovely velvety golden-orange flaring trumpet-shaped blooms radiating outwards from the top of the stems. Ours grows to about 15” tall and wide with attractive bright green lacy-ferny foliage and is deciduous. Eventually forms a good-sized tuberous root so valued by tuber-loving folk. Native to the Atacama Desert region it should well tolerate hot, dry summers. I grow mine in a clay pot with regular water and once-a-year feeding and it does beautifully.
