| Lupinus latifolius var. parishii
“Parish’s Stream Lupine”
Parish’s Stream Lupine has very showy 1’ long flower spikes in purple-y pink to pink-y pink that smell deliciously of grape soda. It blooms on long spikes in the late Spring-Summer. If given the moist conditions of its usual habitat of wet woodlands, streams & seeps of Southern California, it grows very tall & lush to 3-4' tall & across. I gave it a try in my dry bed at home & it grew to 2’, bloomed well & survived a Summer of very low water! Though it is clearly a Lupine that adapts well to various garden conditions, it does look its best with some supplemental water. A very pretty addition to a CA native garden! Deciduous. Grows under oaks! Deer resistant!
