Pelargonium echinatum
Here’s an unusual Pelargonium from South Africa. It
has stout, succulent stems and lots of white flowers with
pink markings that are shaped like hearts. This Pelargonium
has a long bloom period from late summer through winter. It
is summer deciduous but will still photosynthesize through
its green stems. Pelargonium echinatum is very long lived
if grown properly. It needs a rest period in summer so water
very little, if at all. Too much water in summer will shorten
its life. Can take fairly low temperatures too. It should
be okay to 25 degrees F. It normally grows in rocky soil with
excellent drainage. Would probably be happiest grown in a
container with some extra pumice and sand mixed into the potting
soil. To 3' high.
