| Impatiens
omeiana
Hardy to 17 degrees F, this unusual Impatiens is grown for its low, dense,
spreading, velvety, deep green foliage. Only 6” tall, it will probably
creep out (by rhizomes) to 3’ or more. The lovely leaves are highlighted
with a whitish mid-rib & light veins. Easy & fast growing, it
needs full shade (no cheating!) & rich, fairly moist soil. Also, it
dislikes being crowded by other plants, so give it room to shine. Nice
for a shade front entrance area, side yard or in a container. Blooms in
Fall with small, not showy, pale yellow goldfish blooms!
Note: Generally, species Impatiens prefer cool Summer climates with little frost, and suffer in areas with too much heat and humidity!
