Ipomoea albivenia

Ipomoea albivenia

Sweet scented, 2.5-3”, white flowers appear June thru August on this unusual South African vine. The showy flowers & velvety, heart-shaped leaves make this a distinctive specimen vine, as does its curious woody base & roots. Indeed, for this reason it is sometimes grown as a caudiciform. It loves hot, dry, well-drained soil with compost added. Keep it on the dry side! The fragrant flowers have pink or white throats & open during evening & close mid-day. May go deciduous. Can be grown in USDA zone 9b with protection.
