Eschscholzia lobbii
“Frying Pans”

What a cute common name! This is another tufted poppy like Eschscholzia caespitosa except this one lives in California’s Central Valley & Sierra Nevada foothills, whereas E. caespitosa is common to the North Coast ranges. Also, this one has golden yellow flowers (E. caespitosa’s are pale yellow) like buttercups, 1” across borne well above the soft green foliage. All together pleasant & looks sweet planted here & there in the garden. To 10” tall & wide, combines with Nemophila ‘Penny Black’ beautifully. Re-seeds!
