Clematis integrifolia

Clematis integrifolia Clematis integrifolia

One of those cool, herbaceous, bush-type Clematis, C. integrifolia forms a somewhat sprawly bush to 2’ tall & 3’ wide with dense, downy foliage. From May thru July, the pretty, 2” long, deep blue, recurved, nodding bell shaped flowers appear, each at the end of its own slender, upright stalk. After the bloom is over, you get those attractive, silvery-hairy seedheads. Nice for weaving through other plants. Excellent for front of bed, cottage gardens, wild gardens, meadows & containers. Clematis group 3, so it’s usually pruned in early Spring to about 30” tall. Rich soil is best.
