Leycesteria formosa
“Himalayan Honeysuckle”

A lovely & unusual shrub from the Himalayas, Leycesteria formosa has a nice, upright, dense, arching form with pretty dark green tapered & toothed leaves that color up nicely in the Fall. From early to late Summer, it’s decked out with pendant racemes of bell-shaped white flowers enclosed in beetroot-colored bracts. These are lightly fragrant & are followed by shiny black berries that are much loved by birds. It grows to 6’ x 6’ & likes decent soil. Hardy to 20° F.
