Dianthus plumarius
‘Rose de Mai’
This is the first Dianthus to bloom in the Spring, often as early
as March. The flowers are pink, double & intensely clove scented.
Its true distinction lays in its tolerance for clay soil. Most of
the other old-fashioned gillyflowers hang in there for a couple of
years then die. They really need good drainage & prefer raised
beds or pots. My present plant has been in its place for seven years,
has never been watered & is still going strong. I highly recommend
it! To 20" x 15".
