With its graceful habit, distinctive soft, pearl gray foliage & its large sprays of fragrant, golden flowers in Winter & Early Spring, “Pearl Acacia” makes a lovely & valuable large shrub or small tree for our Mediterranean climate gardens. Drought loving, evergreen & deer resistant, too, this Acacia makes a good street tree, hillside stabilizer or quick screen. Fast growing – usually 6-9’ tall, it can be pruned to any shape & if left natural, it’s nicely bushy. The beautiful, silvery white leaves are held closely along the thin, dainty branches & are covered with a fine, hairy down that adds to their soft appearance. Not fussy about soil as long as there is drainage (not clay).
