Silene laciniata
“Fringed Indian Pink”

This very showy and intriguing Southern California native is enormously attractive to hummingbirds. The narrow, long green leaves, form a low mound until late Spring when the branched flower stems shoot up to 2’ tall with 15-25 buds & flowers per stem. The fringy, single, scarlet flowers emerge from a tube, and are borne for a long period. “Fringed Indian Pink” needs good drainage and does well in the garden. It likes to lean on its neighbors, so it’s best placed mid-bed. Very nice in a pot too.
