Verbascum pyramidatum

Here’s a rarity from Southern Russia to the Caucasus. First, it grows huge - to 7’. Second, it’s spectacular - the huge, branching, flowering spike is shaped like a pyramid. The yellow flowers have purple anthers and the foliage is green + crinkly. Quite a sight when viewed from a distance, outlined against the sky. Verbascums are plant-and-forget guys, and will grow in any soil, as long as they’re in the sun. This one acts like a perennial and will reseed.
