Amorphophallus bulbifer "Voodoo Lily" Possibly the EASIEST and MOST HARDY of the Voodoo Lilies! Mature plants produce pink flowers up to 3’ TALL! In a bloom year the flower is the first thing to emerge. It lasts only five glorious carrion-scented days, but the highly ornamental berries that follow, encrusting half of the flower stalk, can persist for up to a year – color shifting from green to vivid red. In non-blooming years it forms an attractive green and white mottled stalk up to 4’ tall topped by a 4’ wide tropical mop of foliage. Very prolific - it propagates by seed, bulbils, and bulb division, so it’s easy to build up a nice sized colony after a few years. Suitable as a container plant, house plant, or outdoor specimen. During its Winter dormancy make sure to water only monthly and refrain from fertilizing. If overwintering in the ground, provide a thick layer of mulch for protection. |
