Native to L.A., San Bernardino and Inyo counties, as well as the arid Southwest, beautiful Penstemon palmeri LOVES HOT AND DRY gardens and does well in our average water, coastal garden here at the nursery, too. Sturdy 3-5' upright spikes emerge from the base to hold masses of large, 2", deliciously grape scented, flaring, pink blooms with yellow throats and dark veining, all to lure bumblebees and hummers to their nectar. Creates a spectacular stand to 5' across (especially in harsher Summer areas). Somewhat clay tolerant. Deer and rabbit resistant! No Summer water once established.
