Primula acaulis
‘Innisfree’
Primula acaulis ‘Innisfree’

All the way from Ireland & 35 years in the making, these dusky-leaved Primulas are a sophisticated new bent on an old & well-loved plant. Bred from old Irish stock by Primula enthusiast Joe Kennedy & introduced by Fitzgerald Nurseries, this collection is more vigorous than the bedding Primulas of similar ilk & with darkest foliage that’s appealing all on its own. We’re delighted to bring them to our corner of the states & excited to see how they’ll perform in our shady gardens! Lustrous ruby red blooms with yellow eyes are produced in Spring above darkly bronzed foliage. Like many primroses, ‘Innisfree’ shuns heat & dryness, so stick to shady settings, or grow it as a seasonal annual. Named for the subject of a famous poem by the Irish poet William Butler Yeats, entitled “Lake Isle of Innisfree.” Grows 5” by 5”.
