Lupinus albifrons var. collinus
“Dwarf Silver Bush Lupine”
A beautiful little lupine with silver leaves & lavender, often bicolored flowers in the spring. In many ways an 8” tall & 1' wide version of the larger “Silver Lupine”. It is naturally found on sunny, gravelly sites in California, including the Bay Area, & it grows easily in gardens with similar conditions. It will not thrive in clay (I have tried), but it makes a beautiful specimen in a pot or at the front of a well-drained rock garden. Needs excellent drainage, in other words.
