Aster oblongifolius
“Aromatic Aster”

I love this Aster! Such an easy, astonishing performer and maybe the bloomiest of all Asters! I love the rounded, densely bushy shrub-like habit that looks great in the garden long before it blooms. But oh, come August, you get an ABSOLUTE MASS of 1.25” yellow-eyed lavender “daisies” that practically cover the foliage until November – just when the rest of your garden is winding down! Indestructible, robust and long–lived, it’s also very cold hardy and adaptable to rocky, CLAY and sandy soils and coastal conditions. Fairly fast to 30” x 3’. An incredible habitat plant – in bloom it’s always buzzing with bees and butterflies. What else could you want? Deer resistant and drought tolerant? Yes and yes!
