Echium hierrense

This new & rare Echium species found growing only on the Canary Island of El Hierro forms a multi-branching shrub to 5’ tall & bears dense, soft blue flowering spikes enlivened by a mass of long, violet-pink anthers. Very attractive silvery lance-shaped foliage. For any rich, well-drained soil, & can be grown in a large container. Blooms April to July & attracts bees & hummingbirds. Self sows!
