Selago serrata

A superstar in our South African rarities collection!
Luxurious rich lavender-blue mounded clusters practically smother this awesome and easy to grow perennial or sub-shrub for several months in Summer. Tough and drought tolerant, you'll admire how pretty it looks year 'round with its shiny, evergreen, neat and attractive foliage. To 2' tall and 3' across, it is base-branching with arching upright densely held stems, creating a tight compact form. The triangular, shiny, recurved leaves are small and held close to the stem, giving an exciting textural effect. Thriving in a low water situation as well as an average water garden or container, give it decent drainage and side-dress with a 1 layer of compost to get it to look like our stunning 2-year-old in the photo. This specimen received ½ day afternoon sun but it grows just as well
in full day sun. Cutting back spent flowering stems encourages an even longer blooming season. A spectacular butterfly magnet, it glimmered in June with hordes of butterflies, the likes of which we've never seen! Youll love it!
