Salvia clevelandii

Salvia clevelandii

Salvia clevelandii is probably one of the three best Sages in cultivation. A handsome, rounded shrub with sparkling violet-blue flowers held in whorls, it is famous for its delicious scent. Native to Southern California, it grows into a pleasing shape, 3’ x 3’ and blooms in May or June for about 3 weeks. Upright in growth, it makes an outstanding filler in a dry garden & works very well as the backbone of a difficult garden site. These plants are grown from seedlings of the cultivar ‘Winifred Gilman’ selected for its compact growth & colorful flowers.
