Pycnostachys urtifiolia "Blue Witches Hats"

Pycnostachys urticifolia "Blue Witches Hats"

Our “Super Groovy Plant of the Year” for 2002. An amazing South African native growing 3’ tall & wide, it bears lots of 5” tall, densely clustered, cobalt blue “Witches Hats” starting in November & continuing all the way to Spring. Quite multi-branching (so you get lots of blooms), with attractive, wavy, soft green leaves. Fast & easy, it loves bright or part shade, good soil & it’s not fussy about water. Much like a shrub with a woody base, it went right through our 28 degree frost days unscathed.
