Primula viallii

Beautiful and unusual, 3 -6, conical flower spikes are red in bud with the violet-blue flowers opening from the bottom of the spike working their way up, creating an attractive contrast. May go deciduous, it blooms generally in late Spring. The fresh, green, lance-shaped leaves have round edges and form rosettes. Primula vialii loves part shade and rich, moist, humusy soil that does not dry out. If you do a good job, it should live 3-4 years.
