Anagallis arvensis
caerulea
“Poor Man’s Weather Glass”
“Blue Pimpernell”
Here we have the quite rare blue form of that little weed, “Scarlet Pimpernell.” Now, before you write it off, consider that this form has larger flowers and is a more robust plant. You get masses of bright, gentian blue, 3 / 4” flowers for a long time above pretty, little, prostrate, spreading foliage. Native to the Mediterranean and a member of the Primula family, it’s well suited to edging a path, a bed, or trailing out of a mixed pot. Big plus: it’s drought tolerant (once established), snail proof, deer proof, and will grow in any soil. Reseeds, too.
