| Here
we have the quite rare blue form of that little weed, “Scarlet
Pimpernell.” Now, before you write it off, consider that this
form has larger flowers and is a more robust plant. You get masses
of bright, gentian blue, 3 / 4” flowers for a long time above
pretty, little, prostrate, spreading foliage. Native to the Mediterranean
and a member of the Primula family, it’s well suited to edging
a path, a bed, or trailing out of a mixed pot. Big plus: it’s
drought tolerant (once established), snail proof, deer proof, and
will grow in any soil. Reseeds, too. |
