Salpiglossis sinuata
“Chilean Wild Form”

Salpiglossis have long provided summer color to cottage gardens, & this wild collected strain direct from Chile likely looks very similar to the plants introduced stateside in 1824. This is one of my favorite plants of the Summer - it has a wild elegance & sturdiness, but with plenty of flair. Slender & sturdy, this tough annual lights up the garden for months! So far, color has been VARIABLE - oranges, purples & more, & all are very pretty. When flowering, plants are about 2’ high, & maybe one foot wide - easy to find room for, & remarkable when planted in drifts. Their 2” flaring tubular flowers have intricate markings along the throat, making them beautiful up close as well as from afar! Blooms all Summer long with a little deadheading, good soil, & average water. Fabulous as a cut flower!
