| Gilia capitata ssp. chamissonis
“Dune Gilia”

This little local provides months of color in the Spring, Summer, & even the Fall! Short in stature, this long lived annual can be found growing in sandy dunes along much of California’s coast line, & sometimes inland. It survives well in regular garden soil, as well, & puts on a long show of thimble sized flower clusters in a vivid cornflower blue color over ferny green leaves. An excellent plant for the front of the border, & I think it would be lovely naturalized in a rock garden setting. Just 6” high & wide, Gilia capitata ssp. chamissonis is also just the right size to put in a small pot. Adapts to many soil types, but would prefer good drainage.
