| Eryngium alpinum
‘Blue Star’

A spectacular Eryngium with “flowers” that are 4” across! Actually the deeply cut petals are bracts displaying a stunning metallic blue sheen. As they age they become a silvery-blue – contrasting wonderfully with the darker, dense central cone. To about 2’ tall, the thick multi-branching stalks arise from a low rosette of shiny green leaves. Easy & long-lived, especially if given a bit of shade & constant moisture. Excellent cut flower & loved by bees & butterflies.
